“Body And Soul” Wins Grammy, Mitch And Janis Accept Award On Amy’s Behalf

“Body and Soul”, Amy’s duet with legendary crooner Tony Bennett, picked up a Grammy award for best pop performance by a duo for duet in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Mitch and Janis were present, and took to the stage to accept the award after being called up by Bennett.

Mitch said: “We shouldn’t be here. Our darling daughter should be here. These are the cards that we’re dealt.”

Referring to the tragic death of Whitney Houston earlier in the day, Mitch added: “Long live Whitney Houston, long live Amy Winehouse, Long live Etta James. There’s a beautiful girl band up in heaven.”

This was Amy’s sixth Grammy Award; “Back to Black” claimed five at the 2008 ceremony.

    I love you both Mitch and Janis. I think Amy has tremendous talent and although she dearly loved you as parents sadly alcohol/drugs is something that is very hard to shake. I’ve seen it many times and please know there is nothing you could have done to change what happened. She would want to see you both smiling, happy and healthy meanwhile her fans will continue to honor her memory and her music.
