The Amy Winehouse Foundation is delighted to be supporting the Lighthouse Foundation, a family support group for families affected by addiction.
Based in Kilmarnock, Scotland, the AWF has donated £10,000 to the charity.
The aim of the grant is to deliver 50 S.T.O.P (Stop Drugs Overdose Prevention), incorporating F.A.S.D (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder) sessions over a 12 month period to 1,000 young people between the ages of 12-25 who reside in Ayrshire.
Other aims include enabling young women to make informed choices that will help prevent alcohol abuse when pregnant, and to deliver information on drug awareness and overdose intervention to young people across the region.
Lighthouse Foundation chief executive Kathleen Bryson told The Kilmarnock Standard: “In Scotland in 2011, 10,000 children were diagnosed with foetal alcohol syndrome. In Ayrshire the same year the number was 733.
“This very generous donation from the Amy Winehouse Foundation will be another step forward in the fight against drugs and alcohol misuse in our Ayrshire communities”.
